the 2024 Season
DPRCA'S 2024 Season
2024 is an exciting year! We have to decided to produce FIVE shows this year! That gives you FIVE chances to get out and enjoy quality entertainment in rural North Dakota.
Winter 2024 - February 15-25 - "Guys On Ice"
Life on the lake is easy, especially when the fish are biting, the jokes are funny, there's a ‘couple two three’ beers in the bucket and the Green Bay Packers are on the field. From the warmth of their shanty ‘up north,’ old pals Marvin and Lloyd spin wit, wisdom and hilarious songs about life, love and the one that got away. Don’t miss this Wisconsin musical tradition, featuring songs like “Ode to a Snowmobile Suit” and “The Wishing Hole.”
Spring 2024 - April 11 - 28 - "The Marvelous Wonderettes"
This smash Off-Broadway hit takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom, where we meet Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy, and Suzy: four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! As we learn about their lives and loves, the girls serenade us with classic ‘50s hits including “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” and “Lipstick on Your Collar.” In Act II, the Wonderettes reunite to take the stage and perform at their ten-year reunion. We learn about the highs and lows the girls have experienced in the past decade and are charmed to find that no matter what life throws their way, they will conquer it together. Featuring over 30 classic ’50s and ’60s hits, The Marvelous Wonderettes will keep you smiling in this must-take musical trip down memory lane!
July 10 - August 4, 2024 - "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"
An electic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the sould-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a chamion! At least the losers get a juice box. *Rated PG-13 for mild language and adult humor.*
Returning this fall - October 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13 - "Deer Camp"
This hilarious show is back by popular demand! Four buddies are enjoying their annual deer hunting trip, but this year is different. After 15 years of them coming home with nothing but a hangover, their wives have given them an ultimatum: bag a deer, or your deer camp days are over. Only one hurdle stands in their way— none of them know how to hunt. *Rated PG-13 for crude humor and innuendo.
Holidays 2024 - Dates TBD - "The Gifts of the Magi"
A heart-warming, captivating musical treat, The Gifts of the Magi is warmed by sentiment and humor, filled with lilting songs, and certain to please audiences of all ages.It is Christmas in New York, but for two young lovers, Jim and Della, the prospects are bleak, as both are out of work and penniless. But as those familiar with the famous O. Henry story are aware, their dilemma is solved when both part with their most precious possessions in order to buy presents for each other thereby creating, at least for a magical moment, an aura of warmth and giving in the cold, impersonal winter city.
